PROJECT – Center of Hope

Case Study

Center of Hope – Redding, California | A Beacon of Light and Purpose in the Heart of Redding

Introduction

Curved Design, Grounded Purpose

At the heart of the Center of Hope is its distinct architectural silhouette—sweeping curves and angular overhangs that evoke movement and inclusivity. These dynamic lines are not just aesthetic choices; they symbolize the open arms of a facility designed to serve, uplift, and inspire all who walk through its doors.

The Douglas fir timber curtain wall, stained with a subtle grain that reflects the surrounding landscape, gives the exterior its organic strength—rooted, natural, and expressive. From every angle, the building invites people in while connecting them to the environment outside.

Where Architecture and Purpose Converge

Interior Experience: Warmth, Light & Purposeful Design

Inside the Center of Hope, architecture and intention come together in a powerful expression of community, reflection, and healing. Every design decision supports the building’s mission: to welcome, uplift, and inspire.

A Palette of Earth & Spirit

  • The interiors draw from a calming palette of natural materials and warm tones—sandstone walls, Douglas fir timber accents, and bronze hardware—creating a grounded, serene environment that feels simultaneously contemporary and timeless. These tones, complemented by natural light, offer visual comfort and emotional resonance.

Form Meets Function: Spaces that Foster Belonging

Whether in communal gathering areas or quiet nooks meant for reflection, the interior architecture uses Sierra Pacific’s direct glaze windows, inswing doors, and bi-fold systems to define space through light. The building’s timber curtain walls create both structural interest and transparency, connecting visitors to the landscape while encouraging openness within.

Each space—curved or linear—is designed to facilitate natural flow and visual connectivity. This fosters not only efficient movement through the building but also a sense of emotional continuity, reinforcing the Center’s commitment to openness and unity.

Sustainability & Energy Efficiency

Beyond aesthetics, the building is a model of thoughtful construction, featuring:

Expansive glazing systems, maximizing natural light to support well-being and reduce energy consumption.

Douglas fir timber curtain walls, showcasing both beauty and resilience.

03 Sandstone clad pine windows and doors, adorned with oil-rubbed bronze hardware—an elegant and durable detail.

A Community Vision, Realized

The Center of Hope is not just a building—it’s a beacon. A place where design serves a higher purpose: to create space for belonging, for growth, and for connection. With its sweeping curves, rich natural materials, and the thoughtful use of Sierra Pacific’s high-performance doors and windows, it embodies a future-forward vision that’s firmly rooted in care, community, and craft.

Hope, Made Tangible

Every corner of this building reflects intentionality—from the play of light on warm wood to the open, welcoming layout. In collaboration with Sierra Pacific Windows and Doors, the Center of Hope has created an architectural expression of its deepest values: light, dignity, and resilience.

This is not just a building—it’s a beacon. It’s a place where stories begin again, where design amplifies purpose, and where hope is no longer abstract—it’s something you can walk into, feel, and carry with you when you leave.
