Marvin Environmental Policy

snow.jpg - small The environmental goals of the Marvin family of companies are to meet or exceed applicable environmental laws and regulations and to protect our environment.

This commitment is fulfilled by incorporating environmental priorities into the design of products, services and facilities, and by minimizing the environmental impact during the production of products and manufacturing operations.

It is our priority to continually improve in pollution prevention, waste management and recycling, and to educate employees, communities and customers on responsible environmental practices.

Jake Marvin
Chairman of the Board
Marvin Lumber and Cedar Company

Sustainable Forestry

Marvin has a genuine appreciation for the critical role forests play in the quality of life within the global ecosystems. We continue to support sustainable forestry management and are committed to conserving natural resources, including efforts to preserve old growth and ancient rain forests.

This commitment is reflected in our actions:

  • Marvin utilizes primarily pine in the manufacture of wood windows and patio doors, a resource not associated with rainforests.
  • Marvin purchases from reliable raw timber suppliers with sound forest management practices, which subscribe to the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) promoting good forest stewardship.
  • Marvin is a Charter Member of the Forest Products Management and Development Institute at the University of Minnesota.
  • Marvin recycles and reuses wood by finger-jointing and edge gluing scrap material to form usable pieces and by utilizing wood shavings to heat its Warroad facility.
  • For nearly a decade, Marvin has actively participated in forest management education programs, including the distribution of more than 4,000 tree seedlings to employees and surrounding communities each year.
  • Marvin supports the WDMA Green Task Force Statement of Beliefs.

Architectural Windows & Doors Australia Sustainability Policy

  • Environment -we are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our community via the supply of quality, low maintenance, high performance windows and doors so that less energy is required over the life of buildings to maintain a comfortable environment in which to live and work.  We continuously strive to reduce our own carbon footprint by applying the reduce/re-use/recycle principles to our business operations.
  • Community - we provide education and empowerment to members of our community to enhance their living and working spaces and achieve their own energy reduction and sustainability goals.
  • Workplace - we provide education, training and flexibility for our employees, and regard them as a valuable resource for the continued sustainability of our business.
  • Marketplace - Precedence supports and promotes environmental stewardship, quality and innovation: and in turn these values are criteria for us in the selection of supply chain partners.
  • Economic - the long term sustainability of our business will be achieved by supplying high quality windows and doors; achieving the customer service expectations of our customers; and by communicating our company vision and values to our stakeholders.
